The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre participates in capacity building
initiatives with other peace operations education and training institutions.
The PPC defines capacity building as “measures that enhance
the ability of organizations to define and achieve their peace operations
objectives.” The largest of these initiatives is the Peacekeeping
and Security Capacity-Building Project for Francophone Africa (PDCMPS).

Our capacity building activities encompass three objectives:
- Establishing and sustaining institutional structures;
- Developing a programme offering that enhances the effectiveness
(knowledge) and operational readiness (skills) of participants;
and
- Building a Faculty that has the skills and knowledge required
to develop and deliver the programme offering.
The PPC offers extensive experience in programme development and
delivery to other institutions to assist them in adapting PPC programme
materials for use in other countries, languages and/or cultural
contexts. As well, we provide training to staff in other institutions
to help them deliver the programme. At the end of the process, counterpart
institutions have both the programme materials and the knowledge
and skills to use them without outside support.
