Please read and adhere to the following instructions as you prepare to attend the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre.

Transportation

With the exception of Military Training Assistance Programme (MTAP), and Canadian Regional Training and Support Programme(CRTSP) candidates, you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements. Travel for MTAP and CRTSP participants will be coordinated by the responsible Canadian Forces Attaché or the appropriate Canadian Embassy/ High Commission.

Please advise the Registrar via phone, email, fax or the online travel form of your travel itinerary no later than one week prior to the course to ensure that we can arrange to meet you when you arrive.

Flight Arrangements

For those making flight arrangements, the PPC has appointed Air Canada as our Official Airline for Conventions. By registering with our convention number you could save on a Regular Economy Class Fare and overseas passengers will be offered the best available fare. Call Fundy Travel at 902-245-4106 to take advantage of reduced fares. When using Air Canada please ensure that the Event Number CV189949 is entered in the Tour Code box of your ticket, regardless of the fare purchased. (Note: Certain rules and conditions will apply.) To contact Air Canada directly, call 1-800-268-0024.

A PPC representative will meet you at the airport, and will carry a sign with our name and logo on it for easy identification. If you cannot locate the PPC representative, please go to the information booth (located on the main level across from the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission) and ask the attendant to page the 'Pearson Peacekeeping Centre Driver'.

For participants travelling by automobile, please refer to our handy list of driving directions.

If you are travelling from Quebec/New Brunswick, the recommended route includes the Saint John/Digby Ferry. Reservations are recommended. (http://www.nfl-bay.com/bay/info.html)

Arrival Procedure

All course participants will be met by a PPC representative in the lobby of the Peacekeepers’ Lounge. The PPC representative will show you to your room and provide you with an information package.

Arrival and Departure Times

Participants must arrive on the Cornwallis Campus no later than early Sunday afternoon preceding the course.

Departure flights should not be booked earlier than the morning of the Saturday following the last day of course. If an early departure is required an additional cost will be involved. No early departures will be entertained for CF and MTAP participants unless it can be proven that there is an immediate operational requirement or that there are justifiable compassionate grounds for leaving early.

Participants are welcome to stay on the Cornwallis Campus from noon on the Saturday prior to the course until noon on the Saturday following the course. If you wish to arrive or depart outside of these specified times, please let us know so we can arrange your accommodations.

The tuition fee covers the cost of accommodation and meals for the above 14-day period. If you wish to stay beyond that period, you will be billed accordingly.

Passports/Visas

Before you leave home you must obtain the necessary visas in order to enter and stay in Canada for the course. Please remember to bring your passport.

Medical

The PPC will assist in every way possible to ensure your medical needs are met during your stay with us; however, MEDICAL LIABILITY IS A PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Before you arrive at the Centre, please check with your physician or health plan agency to see if your coverage is adequate. We strongly encourage you to consider purchasing a travel health insurance plan for your stay with us. Coverage for military personnel is a national responsibility except for those attending under the MTAP programme who will be covered by the Department of National Defence.

There are no medical or dental facilities at Cornwallis Park. Emergency care is available at Digby or Annapolis Royal, 15 kms from the campus. For military personnel, the nearest Canadian Forces facility is at CFB Greenwood, one hour away by road. If you require special medications, please ensure that you bring an ample supply.

Financial Arrangements

There is a banking machine located on site in the Cornwallis Park Mall and the nearest banks are located 15 kms away in the towns of Digby and Annapolis Royal. Suggested clothing is a jacket and tie for men and equivalent attire for women. Participants are also welcome to wear their traditional or national dress for course activities, photos and banquets. Military personnel do not require their uniforms; however, they are welcome to wear them as they see fit.

Participants who engage in physical or recreational activities are requested to change into clean clothing prior to dining or using the lounge.
