The Cornwallis Campus

The Cornwallis Campus of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre is located in south western Nova Scotia, Canada’s east coast province. Overlooking the ever-changing Annapolis Basin, the Cornwallis Campus has a retreat-like environment that allows participants to relax and focus on course activities.

Local Area

The area surrounding the Cornwallis Campus is part of the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, 2.5 hours drive south of the Halifax International Airport. The nearest communities are Digby, Annapolis Royal and Bear River.

This is one of the most historic regions of North America. Native Mi’kmaq people have inhabited the area for many thousands of years. The French explored the region at the beginning of the seventeenth century and in 1605 established a fort, the Port-Royal Habitation, near the present village of Annapolis Royal. This is the earliest European settlement on the North American continent.

Today, the area is an internationally known tourist destination. It is known for lush greenery and farmland, historic landmarks, wonderful seafood, unique arts and crafts and friendly, welcoming people.
