Model Mission

the Model Mission in Fontinalis

In 2007, the PPC introduced the biennial Model Mission in Fontinalis and over 130 Canadian post-secondary students managed the crisis from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

For 4 days, the students approached the worsening crisis from varying perspectives, including humanitarian NGOs such as the International Red Cross, Care Canada, UNHCR and UNICEF, as well as from military and police perspectives. Each day brought new distressing developments: disrupted food supply lines; contamination of the country’s wells; thousands of children were forced to become soldiers and remain separated from their parents. The students had to think quickly and collectively to secure access to clean water, shelter, food, and proper health care for the millions of internally displaced persons.

The goal of this simulation was to help young Canadians better understand contemporary conflict and Canada’s significant contributions to global peace and security. Please join our community if you’d like to receive updates on the next Model Mission in Fontinalis.
