Sexual and Gender-based Violence
Sexual and gender-based violence undermines peacekeeping efforts. Until recently, this issue was beyond the purview of the international community given cultural practices and taboos. Our expertise in creating a safe space for addressing the critical issue of sexual and gender-based violence has been established. The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre is a leader in supporting the development of national capacities that create environments where women and girls, in particular, can be safe and secure. Increasingly, men and boys are the victims of sexual violence which the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre addresses directly, but with cultural sensitivity.
