Rule of Law

The UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations defines Rule of Law as follows: the principle of governance where all persons, institutions and entities, public and private, including the State itself, are accountable to laws that are publicly promulgated, equally enforced and independent adjudicated and which are consistent with international human rights norms and standards. The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre has the ability to support leaders of government, ministries and institutions as they build national action plans consistent with rule of law principles.

We can provide the full spectrum of service lines and we offer the following activities, seminars, workshops to build capacity in this area:

Quote

"The Pearson Peacekeeping Centre, through the West Africa Police Project, has helped to build police peacekeeping management structures in countries like Nigeria and Ghana.  This has increased the ability of these countries to respond promptly to our requests for deployment of police officers..."  Mark Kroeker, Former Director of Police Division, UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations
